Is sodium cocoyl isethionate made from coconut?
Sodium cocoyl isethionate is a solid cleanser made from the fatty acids of coconut oil. “Cocoyl” means the coconut part of the molecule. It is sometimes shortened to SCI.
It is the main cleanser in many “beauty bars”, the bars that look like soap but are not, and in many shampoo bars. A bar sold as soap-free or sulfate-free is very often built on it.
