Is sodium cocoate made from coconut?
Sodium cocoate is soap made from coconut oil: the oil is reacted with lye and this is what comes out. Potassium cocoate is the liquid-soap version.
A bar of soap names its own fat this way. Sodium cocoate is coconut, sodium palmate is palm, sodium palm kernelate is palm kernel, sodium olivate is olive and sodium tallowate is beef fat. Many bar soaps list sodium cocoate or sodium palm kernelate, because those are the oils that make a bar lather.
On a label: sodium cocoate · potassium cocoate · cocoato de sodio · cocoato de potasio
