Is isopropyl myristate made from coconut?
Isopropyl myristate is a thin oil made by joining myristic acid to isopropyl alcohol. Myristic acid comes from coconut oil or palm kernel oil, and the label does not say which.
It makes creams and lipsticks feel less greasy and helps them spread. It is in make-up removers, bath oils, deodorants and many liquid lipsticks.
More often than not, this one turns out to be coconut or palm kernel, so it holds a product’s verdict open on its own.
On a label: isopropyl myristate · miristato de isopropilo
