Is isoamyl laurate made from coconut?
Isoamyl laurate is a light oil made by joining lauric acid to an alcohol made from fermented sugar. The lauric acid comes from coconut oil or palm kernel oil, and the label does not say which.
It is used as a plant-based replacement for silicones in serums, sunscreens, foundations and hair oils.
More often than not, this one turns out to be coconut or palm kernel, so it holds a product’s verdict open on its own.
