Are coconut alkanes made from coconut?

Yes. This one is coconut.

Coconut alkanes is a light, dry-feeling oil made from coconut oil: the oil’s fatty acids are turned into plain hydrocarbons, which chemists call alkanes. The word coconut in the name is literal.

It is used where a silicone would otherwise go, so it turns up in sunscreens, foundations, serums and hair products, often ones sold as silicone-free or natural, and very often next to coco-caprylate/caprate, which is also made from coconut. This site counts it as coconut because the label names it. Whether a given person reacts to it is a question for their allergist.
